By

The Alabama Association for Justice announced Wednesday that it has elected a new slate of officers. ALAJ is an association of attorneys dedicated to protecting 7th Amendment rights. The group elected its new slate of officers at its annual convention held from June 13 through June 15, 2019.

The new president will be Josh Hayes of Prince, Glover and Hayes in Tuscaloosa.

The president-elect will be Rip Andrews of Marsh, Rickard and Bryan in Birmingham.

The first vice president is Gina Coggin of The Coggin Firm in Gadsden. The second vice president will be Erik Heninger of Heninger, Garrison, Davis in Birmingham.

The secretary is Wesley Laird of Laird, Baker and Blackstock in Opp. The treasurer is Ben Baker of Beasley Allen in Montgomery.
The immediate past president of the group is Steve Nicholas of Cunningham Bounds in Mobile.

“Every Alabamian has a constitutional right to a trial by jury, and I’m going to do my absolute best to protect that important right,” said Josh Hayes, newly elected President of the ALAJ. “As president of the Alabama Association for Justice, I see my job as ensuring everyone has a level playing field if they are injured or harmed.”

“Josh Hayes has given more than a decade of his life in volunteer service to the Alabama Association for Justice because he believes strongly in our mission of ‘Great Lawyers. Great Laws.’ — and for that I’m grateful,” said ALAJ Executive Director Ginger Avery.

“No Alabama citizens and businesses wish to find themselves in court, but if that day ever happens, our organization is there to ensure they have equal access to justice,” Baker said, the newest ALAJ officer.

The Alabama Association for Justice is a plaintiff’s attorney organization that represents the needs of consumers and businesses seeking redress through the courts. Its members are dedicated to protecting the 7th Amendment and the right to a trial by jury.
